Vocational Rehabilitation
The official site for information about Vocational Rehabilitation in New Hampshire. Adults with disabilities may seek assistance from VR for services related to employment. Some adults may qualify for VR assistance with assessment to determine a learning disability.

A well-organized and informative site with easy links to topics. While much information is oriented to children with LD, you can click on “More Search Options” and use Advanced Search to request adult education, which will yield many resources. One example is “Living with LD,” an excellent resource with empathetic language and informative links.

New Hampshire International Dyslexia Association. This site is very comprehensive and covers anything anyone might want to know about dyslexia (learning disability in reading.) It has good links to helpful sites and free downloads of reading assessment tools for young people.

Job Accommodations Network. This site’s purpose is to assist the disabled and employers of the disabled on the job. It gives some great accommodation ideas for anyone with a disability.

International Dyslexia Association. This site provides information and helpful resources for all involved in work with people with dyslexia. The man menu is pictorial according to the need of the user. Each resource can be adapted according to the age or needs of the person using the site.

National Institute for Literacy (NIFL)
This national resource for adult education and literacy programs co-ordinates literacy services and policies and NIFL disseminates information on scientifically based reading research pertaining to children, youth, and adults. It is the home of the Bridges to Practice initiative on helping adult learners with learning disabilities.

Learning Disability Association of America (LDA)
This is the largest non profit volunteer organization advocating for individuals
with LD with over 200 state and local affiliates in the U.S. It provides support and resources for parents, teachers, and adults based on current research and resources.

The Literacy and Learning Disabilities Special Collections
This site aims to provide a single point of access to information on LD issues for adults with learning disabilities and adult education teachers and tutors.

American Council on Education.
This organization is the coordinating association of U.S. higher education institutions and it administers the GED Testing Service.
The GED section is a source for GED information, GED transcripts, and ordering GED Publications. You can also find information about accommodations for people with disabilities.

www.ncsall.net
This site does not focus specifically on LD, but it offers a wealth of briefs and study guides related to research and practice in adult education including guidelines for conducting study circles in “Skills for Health Care Access and Navigation” and “Research-based Adult Reading Instruction,” a brief on “Applying Research Findings to Instruction for Adult English Language Students,” and a monograph on “An Evidence-based Adult Education Program Model Appropriate for Research.” You will also be able to find a great deal of information about Multiple Intelligences and to download the entire text of books including Applying Research in Reading Instruction for Adults: First Steps for Teachers by Susan McShane.
